During a regular sprinting phase the body is evenly distributed over the four body contacts. As the push off takes place, the athlete must push off with both legs, front leg extends still making contact the ground and in the process of encompassing airtime. The resting back leg is encompassed by hip-extension, knee-flexion and ankle plantar-flexion. The back leg starts to come forward during that drive phase of the sprint. The caveat here is the athlete must remain tight and controlled coming out of the blocks and/or there sport for less than a second (u'll probably argue this). Therefore, the Trap Bar split squat serves as an excellent starting phase for the sprint or coming out the blocks. So the question should be how can we simulate and improve the next several phases of the sprint. Insert the Sprinters Trap Bar Deadlift because (1) the body is in a controlled position (core tight), (2) maintains a good forward lean (3) back leg is effectively loaded and forces a smooth transfer as when sprinting everything should be firing.
Just try it out.
