Everyone has done some variation of the Pigeon Stretch; however, I have not seen this one before. Tight hips are due from sitting all day, which permeates your problem but this pigeon stretch your stretching both the hip on one side and groin, hips, hamstrings and glute even ankle/foot on the leg that would be rested.
Therefore, instead of performing the pigeon stretch in the frontal plane, in various directions and on boxes this one will work wonders.
The only downfall is the lowered leg, outside buttocks won't hit the floor unless your so flexible. I'm not but even for the limited-flexible gifted it can still work wonders because performing a Quadruped hip extension on stability will keep that hip down based on your range of motion.
