Those who fly can argue that the main lift comes from the fact that the wing is angled slightly upward so that air striking the underside of the wing is forced downward. Newton's 3rd law of reaction argues the force upward on the wing provides the lift. Knowing and unknowingly increasing the angle can increase the lift, but it also increases drag providing more thrust with the aircraft engines.
Most pilots know, you can adjust the attitude of the aircraft to ensure the proper angle of attack to get an efficient lift.
Therefore, what can be applied to flying (friction during take off) relates to our field to engage proper muscular tension based on the angle, speed and center of mass to generate proper acceleration through rotating the stability ball through angled and linear movement.
Bringingit all together in relations to sports, there are many athlete's that must curve their bodies and force themselves to change direction immediately resulting in minimal/dynamic accelerations. Thereare other sports where one athlete has to take a tighter, more in-depth turns to experience greater accelerations, greater rotations and change of the movement.
I know this isn't your average Body Saw but sometimes when training those "deep core" muscles you cannot feel it but the best thing you can do for your body is to perform various movements to target the anterior/posterior core yet support the spine from various angles to aid in various dynamic movements.
The the nervous system plays an awesome part serving as the protective mechanism due to inadequate core strength.
There is more research to be done I think its looks good!
